From the best of 20th and 21st century choreographers comes a program as diverse as dance itself. Hans van Manen’s Solo is an athletic tour-de-force for three gifted male dancers, set to music by Johann Sebastian Bach. Artistic director Stanton Welch’s Mediæval Bæbes features female artists performing to the music of an a cappella group by the same name. Jerome Robbins’s Afternoon of a Faun looks in on a young couple in a rehearsal studio, with audience as mirror. George Balanchine’s dazzling Symphony in C makes for a grand finale, a stunning showpiece for the full company.  Running September 26 – October 4, 2008. www.houstonballet.org

    1. It’s a great ballet, isn’t it? Unfortunately we don’t sell DVDs of the company because the costs are outrageous, not to mention all of the union battles we’d have to fight. If anything ever comes available, I’ll everyone know.
